Jared Omondi scores a solitary goal for Matoso Youth to clinch Ligi Ndodgo tourney

Matoso Youth are the annual Shardrack Omondi Under 17 champions after they beat Akado FC 1-0 in an entertaining football game held in Matoso on Christmass day.

Matoso gor the only goal through Jared Omondi to win the tournament which has been going on for ten days.

Earlier in the semis, Matoso had defeated Lidha 2-0 while Ekado overcame Gor Gor 3-1 to make it to the finals.

The winners were awarded 5,000 shillings and a goat, while the first runners up got 4,500 shilllings with the third team taking home 4,000. all the other teams each got 1,000 shillings and uniforms.

The tournament brought together teams drawn from Nyatike in Migori County with the teams being pooled into two pools.

Pool A had Lidha, Nyangere, Lisori and Gor Gor whie pool B had Matoso, Aeko, Akado and Cameroon.

Speaking after the awards were given tournament cordinator Maurice Ogur said the annual tournament was aimed at making sure that youths were given opportunity to develop talents as well as not engaging in anti-social behaviors.

"We know a lot can happen during the holidays so we want them to be occupied" He said adding that the next games will be held in April holidays.
